COVER-UP &
REWORK.

An old tattoo you don't love any more, a name that means nothing now, a line that faded or was done in a hurry. You don't have to live with it. Send a photo and we'll see what fits over it — or what just needs refreshing.

What's possible

A cover-up doesn't erase the old piece — it absorbs it. That's why the new design is almost always bigger and darker in specific places: where the old ink is you need density, around it you have freedom. A dark, dense old tattoo needs a bold, dark design — black & grey with deep shading, blackwork, large florals. A faded or thin old tattoo leaves far more freedom.

Can your old tattoo be covered? Almost certainly yes. The question is with what — and we answer that from a photo in minutes.

Name cover-ups

The most common request. A name in lettering is usually easy to cover, because it has little ink and lots of space between letters: flowers, wings, geometric work, an animal, a design that follows the direction of the letters. We design it so nothing underneath can be read.

Repair, touch-up and rework

Sometimes a tattoo doesn't need covering — it needs refreshing: lines that spread, shading that faded, a part that was never finished, an asymmetry that bothers you. A repair is a smaller job than a cover-up and often the right answer. Touch-ups on our own work after healing are part of the job.

Cover-up or removal?

For very dark or very large old tattoos, a few laser sessions before the cover-up open up far more design options — and the final result is cleaner. We don't do laser here, but we'll tell you honestly if you need it before we design. Most cover-ups are done without.

How we start

A photo of the existing tattoo in good light, the placement, the rough size, and what you'd like to happen — or what you definitely don't want. We reply with ideas and a cost estimate. A cover-up costs more than a new tattoo of the same size, because it takes more design work and usually more ink. Before-and-afters of earlier cover-ups are on Instagram.

Can a dark tattoo be covered up?+

Yes, with a design that has its own density — dark shading, blackwork, large shapes. For very dense black, a few laser sessions first give more freedom.

Will the old one show through?+

Not if the design is made properly for a cover-up. That's why you don't just pick a design online — we draw it over the old piece.

How much does a cover-up cost in Patras?+

More than an equivalent new tattoo, because it takes more design work and usually more ink. Send a photo and we reply with an estimate.

Should I get a cover-up or tattoo removal?+

In most cases a cover-up, straight away. For very dark or large pieces, laser first and then a cover-up. We'll tell you from the photo.

Can an old tattoo be reworked instead of covered?+

Often yes — clean lines, new shading, a missing part. It's a smaller job and the result is the tattoo you wanted in the first place.

How many sessions does a cover-up take?+

Small cover-ups, one. Larger or very dark ones, two or more, with healing time in between.
