A navel piercing is simple to do and demanding to heal — because the spot bends, rubs against clothes and sweats. The right anatomy and the right jewellery are the difference between a piercing that lasts and one that migrates.
Anatomy: can your navel be pierced?
The classic navel piercing goes through the fold of skin above the belly button. It needs a clear fold — a 'lip' — that stays when you stand, sit or bend. Without it, the piercing takes pressure and slowly works its way out. We check in a minute at the studio, no commitment: if it won't work, we'll tell you — rather than take your money for something that will reject.
The jewellery
A banana barbell (curved bar) in titanium or surgical steel, at the right length for swelling. No dangling jewellery at first — the weight pulls on a fresh piercing. After healing, whatever you like: stones, dangles, subtle or bold.
Healing: 6–12 months
One of the slowest piercings, because the spot never stays still. In the first weeks: high-waisted trousers and belts that press, no. Tops that rub, no. Sea and pool until it's closed, no — and in a Patras summer that's a real decision: if you're planning a navel piercing, do it in autumn or winter.

How much it hurts
A little — the skin there is thin and the piercing quick. A pinch and pressure for a second. In the following days you may feel it when you bend.
Pregnancy, gym, clothes
Gym: abs and anything that presses on the spot, a few weeks later. Pregnancy: a healed piercing is usually swapped for flexible jewellery — ask us. Clothes: anything that doesn't press or catch, until it's closed.
Can every navel be pierced?+
No. It needs a clear fold of skin above the belly button. We check in a minute — and tell you honestly.
How long does healing take?+
6–12 months. It's slow because the spot moves and rubs.
When can I go to the sea?+
Once it's fully closed. That's why the best time for a navel piercing is autumn–winter.
When can I switch to dangling jewellery?+
After full healing. Weight too early pulls on the piercing.
